The Installation of Rtn.Naina Desai as President and Rtn.R.P.Baghavan as Secretary of Rotary Club of Secunderabad West, along with their team was held on 07th July,2013 at Kamat Hotel Begumpet. DG Rtn.Ch. Hari Krishna was the Chief Guest and Installation Officer.
Theplace had a festive atmosphere in a typical Indian style. Mango leaf torans (strings of mango leaves) and Banana tree stumps (Both these are considered very auspicious) added to the ambience. The nadaswaram music (traditionally played at Southern Indian weddings) gave an ethereal atmosphere to the whole ensemble.
Theguests were welcomed by shower of flower petals and panneer (scented water) sprinkling by girls dressed in traditional Southern Indian silks.It indeed seemed that this Club was welcoming the change of guard with an auspicious beginning. After the dignitaries were seated and the “lampof knowledge” was lighted by them to dispel the darkness of ignorance in keeping with the Club motto “Tamaso ma Jyotirgamaya” (From darkness lead Thou unto light), Annet Aswin Tejaswi recited a Sanskrit prayer.
Theprogramme was meticulously planned, carefully organised and flawlessly executed. The outgoing President Rtn.Vijayanandan Reddy gave a brief account of the activities of the previous year. Rtn.Arpitha made a powerpoint presentation about the year gone by. PP Rtn.N.Sivakumar explainedabout the matching grants projects for RO Plants and schoolbenches. After the Installation, President Naina Desai outlined her plans and areas of emphasis and also touched upon the areas of concern. DG unveiled the new website designed by the club webmaster Rtn.S.Anil Kumar.
Three new members were inducted and five projects – text books for the adopted school, note books for the adopted school, an R.O.Plant to be 50% fundedby the President in memory of her father, donation to Amma Nanna Anadhashrama and donation by Dr.Savitha Desai for the Uttarakhand tragedy victims – were executed.
AG,Rtn.G.Appa Rao , appreciated the efforts and gave some useful advice. DG, Rtn.Hari Krishna, advised the club to lay emphasis on retention of members, contribution to TRF and proper reporting of activities.
Past President Rtn.D.J.Desai and Anne Lata Agarwal compered . Their performance was well appreciated.
Theprogramme was attended by over 100 persons consisting of Rotarians fromall over the Twin Cities and Bhongir and members of the Inner Wheel Clubs who had come to celebrate the installation of their outgoing District Chairman as the President of RC of Secunderabad West. The programme was followed by a delicious lunch.
Ajob well begun is half done, they say. So, this year is likely to be one of the booming years for the Rotary Club of Secunderabad West.
