DG Rtn.Raji praised the Club for its work and appreciated the fact that this Club has been providing leaders beyond the Club level. She appreciated the fact that grandchildren of our senior Rotarian gave the invocation and that the Annets were active during the function recognising the visitors by giving bouquets or chocolates. She said thiswould spread the awareness of Rotary among them and in later life they will become useful Rotarians. She explained the emphasis on Health and Hunger, Literacy and Vocational projects. She was very particular that youth should be involved in these projects - at the giving end by inducting more youngsters and at the receiving end in the sense that projects should be aimed at helping the youth in their careers. She alsoadvised that in order to make an impact, the Interact and Rotoract Clubs should be nurtured over years. For this, the continuity of projects should be ensured. Another area which received special emphasisfrom both the RI President Ray Klinginsmith and DG Rtn.Raji is that it is not important how much one gives but that each Rotarian has contributed something to the Rotary Foundation. In other words, she wanted the ownership of the Rotary Foundation by the Rotarians. Boxes would be distributed where one can drop in coins each day and collect substantial money by the end of the year.

Another area of emphasis was the Polio eradication programme. This is in the last phases and till the world is declared free of polio, the fight continues. She concluded by promising all support to the clubin BUILDING COMMUNITIES - BRIDGING CONTINENTS.

The ladies of the Club were so excited at having a Lady at the helm of the District, that a number of them were seen actively involved in the proceedings. After DG concluded her speech, the outgoing and incoming first ladies honoured her in the traditional style by placing atilak on her forehead and gifting her a saree, bangles etc.

The Secretary, Rtn.Dr.G.S.S. Prakash proposed the vote of thanksand made the Secretary's announcements. The "Birthday Babies" of July received their gift from the hands of DG Rtn.Raji. The meeting ended with the National Anthem and was followed by a sumptuous lunch. The camaraderie of Rotary was visible in the number of visiting Rotarians who had graced the occasion.
