Career Seminar on Soft Skills - 20 Sep 2014

Detailed Report on the Seminar

What does it take to make an educated youth employable and help him/her get a dream job ?

Career Seminar on Soft Skills was an eye-opener and impetus for the students considering the huge employability gap among the graduate passouts.

Morning Session - Seminar addressed by Industry leaders (9:30 to 1:30pm)
Afternoon Session - Career Clinic by Industry leaders (3:00 to 4:30pm)

Chief Guest was Rtn Anne Ratna Prabhakar, Chairman, New Generations and District Governor Nominee (Rotary International District 3150).

  • Inaugural session started with Event Chair Rtn Kamal Jain speaking on the purpose and need of the Seminar and setting the expectations.
  • Rtn Anil Kumar gave an interesting presentation (with Tom and Jerry cartoon video) regarding the importance of unlearning and breaking the myths / wrong assumptions students were having. This would help the students to empty their minds so that the speakers can fill them with right knowledge.
  • Rtn Anne Ratna Prabhakar elaborated on how Rotary and Rotaract can shape an individual and help enhance their soft skills apart from networking and serving the needy.

Rtn Arpitha proposed the vote of thanks for inaugural session along with guest recognitions. The 1 million signature campaign for "Awareness on Disable people" was also launched in association with Youth4jobs.

The First speaker of the Seminar was Mr.Pradeep Kumar Nama, the synonym for employability (who has already made 50000 people employable and now set a target of 5 lakh people to be made employable). His session was simply stunning with students appreciating the same as - fabulous, extra ordinary, fantastic etc.

Second speaker was Mr.Abhay Nigam a Professional trainer and motivational speaker from Inroads leadership co. coming all the way from Bangalore for the Seminar. He spoke on succeeding through personal effectiveness which was received very well by the students.

Third speaker Ms.Stuti literally tore into the minds of the students with her powerful presentation on Interview skills. Her role play on good and bad interview was an instant hit with the students - with students asking for more and more such sessions....

The last speaker - Mr.Vinod from Manhattan Review gave an overview about the overseas education opportunities and how to score required marks in the relevant entrance exams.

The Feedback forms received from the students were filled with appreciations and acknowledging the wonderful seminar with great learnings.
